I’ve often heard that first impressions are lasting impressions. So, this first blog entry can come with a bit of pressure! But, then again, I’m not even sure who will be reading this: Point, Click, Type, and Shoot into cyberspace! However, I do believe that this medium, the blogosphere, will be increasingly important to the Alliance’s future of pastors and missionaries spread across the globe. It has been attested to within many different spheres such as politics, culture, and even evangelical Christianity. Hey, that could be the next blog topic!
Anyway, in general, this blog will consist of a mix of Theology, Church Life, Philosophy, Politics, and Culture. Of course, there is a slew of blogs out there, so what will make this one any different from the others? One, some of the post will be targeted to Alliance pastors and missionaries, so that in effect makes it unique. Second, I will try, by God’s grace, to make entries found within this blog always in the nature of spurning us to 1) always dig deeper into Scripture and hold up everything to Scripture 2) keep the Gospel central 3) analyze the link in our confessional theology (truths we profess) and our functional theology (how these truths our applied) and 4) always to spread a passion for God’s glory in every sphere of life. Of course, there will be the miscelleneous fun post here and there.
Tough goals, I know! But, then again, that points us to the Gospel. It is by God’s grace that He is able to take our weaknesses, and use us, these “jars of clay”, for His glory. So, I trust that by God’s grace He will take any weakness of words and point you to His everlasting Word. Soli Deo Gloria.
P.S. Coming up and for those on the Alliance eCommunity forum boards, I will try to answer “What is the Alliance?” which is found in one of the Alliance eCommunity forums. It’s a good healthy question to ask and I believe will sharpen our minds a bit more.
